URGENT CLARIFICATION REGARDING THE UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MAHAMAYA MANDIR’S NAME
To all respected devotees, Sanatani community members, and Hindu community leaders in New York:
Namaskar.
Mahamaya Mandir has issued an urgent public clarification regarding a Janmashtami parade announcement circulating on social media. A Facebook account using the name “American Bengali Hindu Foundation” has reportedly circulated a poster announcing a parade for September 5 while using the names of Mahamaya Mandir and other New York Hindu temples. The Mahamaya Mandir Management Committee states that the temple did not authorize the use of its name in connection with the event.
The Temple Clarifies:
No approval was granted by the Mahamaya Mandir Management Committee to use the temple’s name for the parade.
The proposed event was never discussed or approved at any meeting of the temple management committee.
No such announcement was issued through the temple’s official Facebook page or authorized representatives.
Mahamaya Mandir has no official affiliation or authorization in connection with the disputed promotional materials.
The notice also identifies Deepak Das and Indrojit Sarker as individuals who have been sharing the disputed flyers through social media.
Mahamaya Mandir warns that the unauthorized use of temple names for community events may create confusion, misunderstanding,
and unnecessary division within the Sanatani community.
The temple welcomes lawful and transparent religious events, gatherings, and community programs. However, written approval from
the Mahamaya Mandir Management Committee is required before the temple’s name or logo may be used for any event.
The management committee also appealed for community unity, encouraging organizers to avoid competing events on the same day and, where appropriate, to organize independent programs under their own organizational names and on separate dates.
IMPORTANT COMMUNITY APPEAL
All New York Hindu temples, organizations, devotees, and community leaders are requested to verify the authenticity and authorization of any promotional material before sharing it.
Do not assume that a temple’s name appearing on a flyer means the temple has approved or endorsed the event.
